The back story
Where Tokyo sleeps: towers above the palace, ryokan and the new hills
Aman and HOSHINOYA in Ōtemachi, the Palace Hotel on the moat, The Peninsula and the Imperial in Hibiya, the Bvlgari above Tokyo Station, Janu at Azabudai Hills and the reopened Park Hyatt in Shinjuku: where to stay, and why the address matters.

Around the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station, in Marunouchi, Ōtemachi and Hibiya, you are a walk from Ginza and a train from everywhere. Toranomon and Akasaka are the new business heart, with The Okura and two EDITION hotels. Roppongi and Azabudai have the Ritz-Carlton, the Grand Hyatt and Janu. Shinjuku has the Park Hyatt, reopened after its renovation, and Asakusa has small hotels by the temple gate.
By the palace and the station
Aman Tokyo occupies the top floors of Otemachi Tower, at 1-5-6 Ōtemachi. HOSHINOYA Tokyo, at 1-9-1 Ōtemachi, is a ryokan built as a tower, with a hot-spring bath on its top floor. The Palace Hotel Tokyo, at 1-1-1 Marunouchi, looks across the moat to the palace gardens; the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi is in Otemachi One. The Tokyo Station Hotel is inside the red-brick Marunouchi station building itself. In Hibiya, The Peninsula Tokyo (1-8-1 Yūrakuchō) and the Imperial Hotel face Hibiya Park, and above Tokyo Station’s Yaesu side the Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo fills the 40th to 45th floors of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.
Nihonbashi
Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo is at the top of the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower (2-1-1 Nihonbashi Muromachi), and K5 is a small hotel in a former bank building in Kabutochō, by the old stock exchange.

Toranomon and Akasaka
The Okura Tokyo (2-10-4 Toranomon) reopened in 2019 with a new Heritage Wing and Prestige Tower. The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon is at 4-1-1 Toranomon, the Andaz in Toranomon Hills, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu at 2-10-3 Nagatachō beside the Hie Shrine, and The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho high above the Kioichō crossroads.
Roppongi and Azabudai
The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo occupies the top of Tokyo Midtown (9-7-1 Akasaka); the Grand Hyatt is in Roppongi Hills; Janu Tokyo, Aman’s younger sister brand, opened at Azabudai Hills (1-2-2 Azabudai).

The Park Hyatt Tokyo, at the top of Shinjuku Park Tower, reopened on 9 December 2025 after a renovation of 19 months (Hyatt). TRUNK(HOTEL) Cat Street is at 5-31 Jingūmae, between Harajuku and Shibuya, and THE GATE HOTEL Kaminarimon by HULIC stands by Sensō-ji’s great gate.
Our advice: book the palace-side hotels for cherry-blossom season (late March to early April) and the autumn leaves months ahead.
